On June 16, the "World Meets GZ - Uzbekistan (Bukhara) Investment and Trade Exchange Conference" took place in Guangzhou. This event was jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial General Chamber of Commerce and the Guangzhou International Cooperation Center (GICC), and it aimed to highlight Uzbekistan's business environment, investment opportunities, and share the experiences of Chinese enterprises operating there.
Uzbekistan plays a crucial role in China's Belt and Road Initiative and is a key investment and trade partner for China. The conference represents a proactive effort by Guangdong and Guangzhou to align with national diplomatic strategies and enhance local exchanges and cooperation with the Central Asian governments and businesses across various sectors. It provided a valuable platform for local enterprises to explore opportunities in the Central Asian market.
A delegation of over 30 representatives, led by the Governor of Bukhara Region, participated in the conference, as well as the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Guangzhou. Approximately 100 representatives from both Chinese and Uzbek government and business sectors gathered to discuss new investment and economic cooperation opportunities.
During the B2B meetings that followed the conference, government leaders from the Bukhara region engaged in face-to-face discussions with representatives from prominent local enterprises and industry associations, including Guangzhou Metro Group, Guangzhou Public Transport Group, Hangxiao Steel Structure (Guangdong) Co., Ltd., the China Hotel Supplies Association, and the Guangdong Home Textile and Home Decoration Association. These discussions focused on potential investment cooperation in urban transportation, construction, tourism, and the textile industry, establishing a strong foundation for future trade collaborations between enterprises and the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan.
